My Body My Business commissioned by The Neighbourhood Challenge

My Body, My Business is a one hour play written by local writer, Tracy Patrick, for The Neighbourhood Challenge's 'Scotland , Spot the Signs Renfrewshire' event in November 2019.

Tracy and local actress, Ashley Edgar, researched and held creative discussions on the subject of modern trafficking, and the result is this thought-provoking drama about the plight of a trafficked victim coming to the UK to work and support her family.

The play enables the viewer to understand this important issue, challenging and transforming attitudes to trafficking victims.Through challenging scenes and effective urban banter it drew the audience into this serious and tragic world of modern slavery that is hidden in plain sight.

My Body, My Business was directed by Rebecca Ritchie-Smith and performed by a cast of talented community actors: volunteers.

Ashley Edgar, Susan Gazzola Black, Shaun Moore, Christopher Moore, Laura Michelle Goldie, Rashelle Reid, Stephen Caldwell, Chic O'Connor, Julie Tate, Alex Mc Bain, Rebekah Copeland, Claire Smith, Harriet, and Rory.

George Street, Storie Street, Wardrop Street.

The Neighbourhood Challenge believe that the environment can be a main contributor to mental health and well being, and aim to raise awareness on ‘stigma and discrimination’ surrounding mental ill health.

Neighbourhood Challenge invited the local people living in the Wardrop Street, George Street and Storie Street area to join in a clean up. There was a good response to the challenge which saw great results, as can be seen from the photos.

The group is in the third year of doing community clean ups.

This wee Thistle!

Was found today in the weeds at the back court of Wardrop Street "Cleen Sweep" a sign for better things in Scotland.

We have as a Nation, survived many wars..

Far and near

Our Streets have become a battle ground over many years

Our young have died before they have even lived, through many societal issues

Our new battle is to "challenge" these issues that have been issues for to long..

"Help" Reinstate Our Community Spirit and create a prosperous future for our young.

One where "Real Respect" for others, is present.

End Stigma and Discrimination of each other, and support people with Mental ill health.
